Species from Southern Africa and Madagascar
While not closely related to other species termed "Jewel Orchids" (Subtribe Goodyearinae), most of the genus Oeceoclades fit a similar description of beautiful leaves with pretty but not overly showy flowers. A major difference between these and other Jewel Orchids is that a number of Oeceoclades come from arid or seasonally arid regions and can be grown similar to succulents. This is one of those species. It will prefer high light (though less than full sun) and moderate water when growing. Use a chunky bark mix for media with these and add some inorganics such as perlite or fired clay aggregate to enhance drainage.
I have had success growing these in warmer, drier terraria, such as those for Phelsuma day geckos.
These are seedling plants in 2" pots.
